What You'll Do

The R&D Technician will be responsible for building new products involving electromechanical, instrumentation and computer components.    The ideal candidate would be one who enjoys being hands on with tools and materials and be able to figure out a build path to go from concept stage sketches to prototype.  Responsibilities include - 

  • Build prototypes; carry out testing of new designs in the lab and in the field, tweak designs before production launch.
  • Review vendor component technical data sheets, source components (both off shelf and custom designs).
  • Create new technical drawings and specifications, define critical characteristics 
  • Conduct experiments using ASTM standards or defined test methods for new designsincluding systematic documentation of work, test apparatus and results. 
  • Conduct field trials of the developed products.
  • Manage BOMsduring the launch phase; create specification documentation before release for production.  
  • Maintaina clean working environment in lab and restock necessary parts in R&D as needed. 


Skills and Experience You'll Need to Do It

  • Demonstrated ability to be hands on with tools to build prototypes and ability to operate mini lathe, drill press, bench grinder and band saw.
  • Technical trade school (minimum 2 year) with at least 5 years related experience in Electrical or Mechanical fields.
  • Preferred candidate should have demonstrated prior work in at least one of the following fields - fluid mechanics, nozzle sprayers design,  iOTwifi device and integrating analog/digital electronic equipment.  
  • Experience with using engineering drawing tools (like AutoCAD, solidworksor equivalent) preferred.  
  • Should be detail oriented, well organizedand be able to systematically log test results. 
  • Computer skills including fluency with MS Excel required.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 50lbs.
